Online Marketing – How to Achieve Your Goals

online marketing goalsFor most of us that market online we tend to have a dream but not a system in place to help us achieve our goals. I am hoping this post helps you define your goals so that you achieve them in the very near future.

A little back story…. I was on a webinar that talked about the 13 deadly mistakes we make as online markers that could be killing our business.

#1 Was Chasing Shiny Objects – you know the jumping from one training to another, buying one course after another, looking for something that will actually teach you how to market online. I had my fair share of this. Chased a lot of shiny objects over the past 5 years.

Then one day I woke up. I felt like the information was beginning to repeat and at that point I knew that the only shiny object that was going to help me build my business was me. So back to the basics I went.

I went back 5 years and picked up my first course ever on attraction marketing. I began to apply what I was learning and magic began to happen.

Online Marketing Made Simple with this system

Follow the marketing funnel to success.

  • Vision – know where you are going and what you want to achieve
  • Goals –  Use the S.M.A.R.T system for results
    1. Specific
    2. Measurable
    3. Attainable/Achievable
    4. Relevant/Results Oriented
    5. Time Bound
  • Objectives – Blogging, video marketing, facebook marketing, or whatever you choose.
  • Action Plan – Taking action to make it happen.

Would you like to see one of my goals using the S.M.A.R.T system?

“50 leads per day from video marketing, doing 1 video a day, by Sept. 31, 2013.”

Ask yourself if it meets all the criteria and you will find that it does.

You will find this goal hanging right above my computer so that everyday I remind myself of what I want to do to create the ultimate marketing sales funnel.

Is it always easy? Nope but it does hold me accountable and that is just what I needed.

Dream as big as you want just make sure you are setting up a marketing system that can help you achieve it sooner rather than later.

    • Thanks for sharing these tips.

I usually have a hard time reaching my goals because I set the bar too high. I just started creating smaller goals and it has helped a lot. Great article!

Keep the goals small but part of a bigger picture! You are going to rock it!

    • Thanks for sharing these tips and reminding me to stop chasing the next shiny thing. I, too, have hopped on webinars and scooped up the next free ebook on training this and training that. Time to set some specific goals and get to work.

I love the S.M.A.R.T. system and use it more. I’ve found that I often skip one or more of the steps.

I don’t have to tell you that the S.A.R.T., M.A.T., A.R.T., M.A.R.T. or S.M.R.T. systems are not as effective. Not at all!

Thanks for sharing the S.M.A.R.T system. Results do need to be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, & time sensitive. Results are what its all about.

Have to agree Pat. You don’t get results if you don’t make goals and set them in action! Appreciate your comment!

My pleasure. I am still working on tweaking and perfecting my goals. 🙂

    • Great reminder to make your goals specific and actionable! I like, too, that it simplifies your plan into what you will do each day.

The slight edge will tell you that it is just doing one thing every day that will set you apart from your competition. Goals should help achieve that. Thank you for commenting!
