This is a replay of the live broadcast with Wendy Fore, Troy Humphrey, Ellen K. Martin, and Chef Katrina
When I first started blogging I learn quite about about blogging and creating content, but no one was really talking about protecting your blog.
A detail that seems to get overlooked until you get hacked.
From personal experience just expect that at some point you will get hacked and do what you can to protect yourself.
Blab About Blogging
In this blab about blogging we talk about the ways you can safe guard your blog.
First off… this information that is being shared is relevant to those that have a self hosted blog and are using the wordpress platform.
- WordFence – A free security plugin that you can install on your site. Just go to wordpress.org and search plugins for WordFence.
- If you are installing the WordPress platform on your self hosted blog DO NOT use the admin default login. What video to see what I am talking about.
- Back Up your blog. Ellen give some awesome resources for getting your blog backed up.
In the word of blogging if you get the “white screen of death” immediately call your hosting site. You have been hacked!
Blogging Reality Check
For some of you, you may never get hacked and that is a good thing.
Blogging is one of the most powerful tools you can have online to build your brand and your business. I have heard my mentor Tim Erway refer to it as a “content distribution center”.
Blogging is where you can answer questions, share ideas, and inspire people. Social media is nothing more than a traffic source to get people to your blog.
You OWN your Blog.
You RENT social media space.
Keep that in mind when using social media. It’s all about engagement and getting people to your site to learn more about you. I am a huge advocate for blogging.
Because so few actually take action to blog, if you step into this arena you are going to blow your competition out of the water. Learn more about How To Blog For Business.
If you got value for today’s blag, comment and share. Love getting feedback from those that follow and read this post. I value every comment and will reply back.
Yours in Gratitude,
