Online Marketing: What is Niche Marketing?

Niche-MarketThe past 3 days I have been teaching home based business owners how to master Niche Marketing through blogging.

One of the biggest challenges that home business owners face is defining their niche. Most believe that if they’re in an industry that it’s their niche. But it’s not. A niche is a small piece of the industry that is unique to them.

So what does niche marketing look like?

As defined by BusinessDictionary.com

Concentrating all marketing efforts on a small but specific and well defined segment of the population. Niches do not ‘exist’ but are ‘created’ by identifying needs, wants, and requirements that are being addressed poorly or not at all by other firms, and developing and delivering goods or services to satisfy them. As a strategy, niche marketing is aimed at being a big fish in a small pond instead of being a small fish in a big pond. Also called micromarketing.

I love this definition of niche marketing. This is exactly what you want to do when you get online and begin to build your brand. You don’t want everyone as your customer. You want a specific customer or client to work with. You want to dominate your niche.

As a network marketer my job is to define my brand and pick my niche. I defined my brand by being who I am… Chef Katrina. Your brand will be the strongest when you brand yourself.

Did you know that people are more accepting of you changing and evolving than any large corporation. People expect you to grow, change your mind, change your job, and have changes in your life. So when you brand yourself it doesn’t matter what company you are with. People like, know, and trust you.

As for finding a niche… well if it makes you feel better it took me some time to define my niche. I would just narrow it down and then narrow it down again. It took me getting a coach to finally define my niche but it was well worth it.

Sometime we need an outside point of view because we can’t see beyond our own walls. Niche marketing is about connection with people you want to connect with. It’s about building your brand in a very specific marketing. The more targeted you are with your marketing the better your results will be.

So today I share with you my insight on how niche marketing can help you grow your business.
