in the newsAre you in the news today? If not, you absolutely should be.

You should always be in the news and conversing with your audience. From blog post to newsletters, you should focus on providing solutions and entertainment to your following.

So how do you get in the news? How do you keep in touch with your audience, prospects, leads, and people you meet at networking events?

For years I rebelled against this idea of newsletters… Sign up for a newsletter in my mind was like signing up for SPAM mail.

Who in their right mind would do that? I hated the idea of a newsletter, until today.

Let me take you on a little journey about being in the news….

7 years ago, I was not in the news…

On Oct. 31st 2008 I joined my MLM company Reliv. I was super excited. I was going to become the next overnight millionaire. After all I was surrounded by over 62,000 Walt Disney World employees… who wouldn’t want to join me in my opportunity?!

Well, after the first 6 months and burning through my hot and warm market, I was feeling pretty down.

This network marketing thing was NOT working out the way it was suppose to. By now I should have had at least 2 or 3 people on my team that were heavy hitters. (I wasn’t in the news)

But it wasn’t to be. I still believed in the products and opportunity, I just had no one to share it with.

Could there be another way to reach a more “targeted” audience?

Thus began my search on the internet. Who the heck was teaching network marketers to successfully use the internet to get leads and recruit people into their business. I found one such person. Mike Dillard.

His course back then was called Magnetic Sponsoring. Groundbreaking education to all network marketers that read it. Mike recently retire this book.

Now the new and improved version is called Attraction Marketing Formula. Better than Magnetic Sponsoring because of the exact recipe to follow if you want to use the internet to build your business.

Oops… I digress… Sorry!

So it was because of Mike Dillard that I was fully introduced to the world of attraction marketing. Lead with value and you will attract other to join you in your MLM opportunity.

Lead With Value… In the News?

What the heck is, “lead with value”. I had no freaking value back them, I was a struggling network market looking for people to talk to.

How the heck do you add value?

Turns out you add value by investing in yourself.  (Still not fining this news worthy…. *sigh*)

Hang with me for just a moment longer and it will all come together. Hind sight is 20/20 after all.

For the last 7 years I have done nothing but invest in myself. From the $2,000 Video Marketing Workshop, the $700 NES VIP live event, down to the $7 course I bought yesterday on video marketing. Then begin including all the books and audio downloads I have purchased over the years.

What was my #1 mistake?

NOT having a newsletter. Not being in the news for my audience. Not sharing what I was learning.

I was completely and totally selfish! I horded information like Scrooge and refused to share what I was learning.

I was actually hurting my network marketing business because I refused to share the amazing knowledge that was gifted to me.

I wasn’t in the news…. I missed one of the key elements of building relationship. I forget to be a servant leader to my audience.

Get In The News!

I urge you, if you haven’t already to grab an email auto responder, I like Aweber, and set up a newsletter.

If you are in network marketing, begin the journey of investing in your education and training and begin sharing what works and doesn’t work with your newsletter.

Start building relationships. Let them know what to expect from you when signing up. Training, stories, education, offers, and how you can help them.

For years I was against newsletters and now today, I am beginning my very first newsletter. Marketing Ingredients with Chef Katrina.

A funny and often humorous tale of what it means to build your business online. You will get the EXACT Ingredients needed to build your business. Over the last 8 months I have successfully helped 2 of my teammates leave their corporate job behind. How can I make this happen for you?

If you want access to the exact information that I shared with them… Get yourself on my newsletter. Feel free to unsubscribe at anytime. 🙂 My feelings will not be hurt.

I am super excited about this new way of connecting with you. Can’t wait to share secret training with you. Insider information and all my other good stuff. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner.

So my message to you. Get in the news… offer your prospects a way to get to know you and connect with you. Give great training and share with them what you are learning. Don’t horde knowledge like I did. Share it. Empower others to greatness.

Get yourself in the news of your prospects. Give them a reason to look forward to your emails.

I had a newsletter a while ago, but I stopped doing it cuz I was getting zero feedback. Recently, two people have come up to me, talking about my newsletter, so I think I’ll start it up again. Thanks!

Ruthanne, I am finding that I am having a lot more fun with my newsletter than I ever thought possible! Why did I wait YEARS to do this! Looking forward to getting on your newsletter!

I’m so glad you reinforced what I’ve been thinking of doing.
I am going to write my first newsletter this week. Actually, I wrote one in the middle of last year but never followed it up and I think only 1/5 of the people even opened it. But this year I decided to take the plunge and have a newsletter once a month.
      Thanks,
      AMy

Awesome Amy! Just promote that you have a news letter. The more consistent you are in writing your newsletter the better open rate you will develop. 🙂 Have fun and let me know how it goes!

This is some really great advice, I have a hard enough time coming up with a blog entry each day for this challenge, let alone a newsletter. But, I definitely get what you’re saying, and I think it’s a good idea, and will consider this once I am working on marketing my book series. Thanks for the advice, and I wish you the best of luck!

Hi Jacqueline! Welcome to my blog! I think if you can do it once a week or even once a month, it would be beneficial. Just a way to stay in contact with our followers. Best of luck with your book! What are you writing about?
