How to Write a Blog
Five years ago I learned what a blog was and how to write a blog. It was this tool to be used to generate traffic and help build my MLM opportunity. I was so excited!
And so wrong about blogging… and had so much to learn.
I was first introduced to the lovely and talented Katie Freiling. She had created a blog that was spectacular. She gave away training, advice, and just showed you how to create a captive audience. She taught me that blogging wasn’t about me but about building a community. A blog was the opportunity to reward your fans, to give them praise, and make this about them.
Katie was honest and sincere in her posts. She talked about things she was learning and things she struggled with. I was inspired.
I was also introduced to Building on a Budget by Magnetic Sponsoring and was again told what a fabulous tool blogging was. It gave you a home base. It was the one place on the internet that you could call your own. You could create landing pages, opt-in forms, and tell people about your MLM. It could also become your training site, a place where you shared what you were learning.
A place to pay it forward
Learning how to write a blog…
The best place to learn is by doing. My first couple of blogs weren’t pretty. I did a lot of copy and paste and I can’t say that was a good thing. LOL I was struggling to find my voice and my writing style. Learning how to write a blog post was not something that came easy to me.
I was so worried about what others would think that I stopped being honest with myself and my fans. So here is my hint… Your blog will not be loved by everyone. You will receive some hate comments, you will get a lot of spam AND you will have RAVING fans and people that love you.
My very first blog was about my MLM. All I did was copy their blog and post it on mine. Got away with it for a while until I received an email asking that I give them credit for the content of my blog. Lesson 1 learned. If you are taking content from another site, be respectful and give credit where credit is due. They will find you. 🙂
Lesson #2 that I learned about blogging, you still need to be social and create a community. It may be my blog but my goal is to create content for my readers. What is it that they want to learn? Do they want to be entertained? Do they want to laugh? Do they want technical stuff but in a funny way? Your loyal readers are the ones that comment and share your information. So give them something to share.
Even this, I am still learning… Give Them Something to Share.
Give it time and just take action, with practice you too will learn how to write a blog. Â Success doesn’t come overnight but in doing something every day to move forward.
Those are my words of wisdom that I share with you today. Thank you for stopping by and I look forward to seeing you again tomorrow.
Yours in Gratitude,
Chef Katrina
