How to Overcome Excuses
Today I woke up to the pouring rain. Living in Florida this is a common experience during the summer. Heck they even said that June 1st was the start of hurricane season.
So I had a huge temptation to just roll out of bed grab my cup of coffee and begin my day. The struggle I had was that I had committed to myself that I would wake up every morning and go for a 30 minute walk. Every day without an excuse.
“But it is raining!!” I said to myself in the most whinny voice I could. I thought to myself… I can just go later when it stops raining.
Boy if I had a quarter for every time I gave myself an excuse not to do something I would be Rich.
So what did I do… I rolled out of bed, threw on my clothes, grabbed my ipod and headed out the door with my dog. On my Ipod was the self development book, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker. Today’s lesson was about managing money and being consistenly persistent in doing so. So a good lesson to learn in the rain. LOL
Now the interesting thing was that yes, it was raining, but I felt so good about myself for doing what I committed to doing that the rain didn’t matter.
Now of course I had to do a video about being consistently persistent. It doesn’t just apply to one area in your life but to all area’s in your life. If you don’t commit to doing something, more often than not you end up doing nothing. Stop Making Excuses.
How to overcome excuses and start being productive
1. The first thing you have to do is make a commitment. Not just say you are going to do something but actually commit to it. Tell someone or do like I did, make a video and put it out there. Let everyone know you are committed.
2. Be persistent. Most of the time it is so easy to stop doing something. I know that I have tried and stopped so many times it is ridiculous. But I am also extremely persistent. It shows in the actions of my last 5 years in network marketing. I have started blogs and video many years ago. My biggest problem is that I lacked consistency.
3. Be Consistent. This is even where I struggle. Only since I have made the commitment have I seen the results of my efforts. Every day I create a video, every day I do a blog post, every day I make sure I exercise, everyday I read or listen to self development. These are my commitments. These are the things that need to get done before I go to bed each night. These are my none negotiable.
So I challenge you to make a commitment to do something every day. If you want to make a huge impact write that commitment down in the comment section. Let everyone see it. Commit to doing it. Trust me, it can seem scary but all you have to do is do it.
Looking forward to seeing what you commit to. I already told you mine!
Yours in Gratitude,
Chef Katrina
