A Blab About Blogging

A blog is more than just a blog in today 20th century marketing.

Did you know that there are three different types of blogs you can create?

There is the traditional blog, which you see here from me from time to time. It is just written content with images shared.

Then there is the Video blog which tends to be a hosted site with your video as the content. Simple and easy to do.

Last is the Podcast blog, which is just the spoken word with content around it. Great for the audience that just wants to listen to it or take you will them on the go.

The next question is how do you profit from each of these blogs and which one is better?

Watch this Blab about Blogging where I shared with you the very effective ways to use your blog and monetize it.

Monetize Your Blog

BlogWith every client of mine, they always ask, “How do you monetize a blog.”

If you want to make money with your blog there is one thing you have to get really good at…

…Knowing your audience.

One of the biggest and often overlooked aspects of blogging is the research.

  • Who are you blogging for?
  • What do you want to educate them on?
  • What stories or engagement do you want to take place on your blog?
  • What is your avatars pain or pleasure points? What keeps them up at night?
  • What can you recommend to help solve their problem?

Once you can answer these questions you have an advantage. Your blog posts become more personal and more engaging… which mean more money for you.

The best way to monetize your blog is to provide tools and services that would benefit your reader.

Example: I’m a blogging coach, I know that when people start to contemplate blogging they don’t know where or how to get started. So I may write a blog post about “Ready To Blog, But Don’t Know Where to Start?”

Inside this blog post, I will walk them through the process of blogging and more than likely I am going to recommend a few resources for them like:

Click on each resource to learn more.

  • JustHost is my Preferred Hosting/Domain site.
  • Aweber is my recommend autoresponder for email marketing
  • ThriveThemes is my recommend blog/website theme. Amazing for all sites!

These recommendations are affiliate links. They are going to lead to a product or service that I am an affiliate with and when they buy, I will make a small commission.

Blogging For Profit

The profit for blogging comes with a recommendation and the trust you build with your audience.

For me, I never recommend a tool or service that I don’t personally use myself. I want to make sure those that read my blog and follow my training are getting to see that I’m just like them and these are the tools I am using.

There are many affiliate companies out there. No matter what business you are in, there is an affiliate product that you can recommend to your readers.

If you do your research I’m guessing that you could find 3-5 affiliate product that you could recommend to your readers.

…That is how you profit with your blog.

Word of caution… Don’t turn your blog into an advertising junkyard. Use widgets and affiliate links as they are relevant to the content you are writing about.

I’ve seen too many blogs where the sidebar looks like an advertising battlefield. I’ve also seen right in the middle of content an ad for something totally unrelated to what I was reading in the blog post. This can be very distracting.

So keep is simple. Put recommendation links were appropriate and have some fun with your blog.

Blogging is nothing more than an expression in education and life experiences.

I want to thank you for joining in on this Blab about Blogging and looking forward to seeing you on the next one.

If you got value from this blog post, please share, and write down one of your biggest take-a-ways.

Yours in Gratitude,
