Blog lead generationIf you are like most bloggers that are using their blog to build their business there are two things that you need.

Traffic & Leads

Without traffic, your blog is dead in the water. But I do have a secret to share, most bloggers begin at the beginning. They are in the same place as you when they start blogging. No followers and no traffic.

What most guru’s fail to tell you is that blogging is a long-term strategy. Yes you can build a 6-figure business with your blog, but it’s not going to happen overnight. It is going to take some hard work, consistency, and the ability to learn how to get traffic and leads.

So today, I want to share some of my biggest secrets on how I have been able to use my blog to generate 5 leads a day for my business.

The 5 Lead Formula for Bloggers

These three steps have been instrumental in the success of my blog and those of my blogging clients.

They may seem simple, but it is the simplicity that keeps readers coming back.

#1 Know Who You Are Writing To

Now, this may seem obvious but I will tell you right now I have seen the shotgun approach with many bloggers. They are trying to get everyone and in the process, they are getting NO ONE!

So know who you are talking to. As a network marketer, you should have a good idea of who you want to reach. If you are in the health and wellness, you are talking to a person that wants to learn more.

If you are in the financial industry, you are writing to those that are looking for help or education.

**my number one tip… people are going online looking for education. So educate them. DON’T SELL THEM!**

#2 Make Your Blog Easy To Read

This may sound weird but the layout of your blog is crucial. Are you following these “Eight Secret Structural ‘Mechanics’ behind every killer blog post”?

Majority of blog readers first skim the blog article to see what catches their attention. They look at the headline and the first sentence. You have a very limited about of time to capture your reader and get them reading.

Don’t be afraid to create short sentences.

Use images.

Use the white space of your blog to make a point.

#3 Have Multiple Optins

This tip was shared with me by one of my blogging mentors and once I put it in place I saw a dramatic increase in leads. Want to know what he said?

“Have multiple optin for your reader.”

If you take a look at my blog, for example, there are a few optins that you will see.

  • Top right on the sidebar is an optin for my Blogging Ingredients Course
  • Top Menu Bar – Join Katrina – optin for my MLM
  • Bottom of this Post – Optin to join my underground newsletter. Update on marketing, training, blog posts, and so much more.
  • Side Bar – What would you like to learn today? Each of these is free training and optin.

You want to create every opportunity for your reader to click on and optin to one of your lists.

I’ll tell you something embarrassing that I did. I had this blog up and running for almost 18 months before I put in the optin to my underground newsletter. I had a reader email me asking how he could join my list so that he could get my blog updates…. it was a palm to head moment.

#4 Have An Email Autoresponder

Once you get your leads to optin to any of your offers you are going to want to follow up with them.

Follow up is key and where the money is made. Most people don’t buy the first time they see your offer.

So you need to continually follow up with them. My favorite autoresponder is Aweber and you can take it for a test drive for free your first month. It’s simple to use and I love the fact that I can customize my optin forms.

5 Lead Formula Review

A quick review of traffic and leads.

First you have to know who you are writing to. Write to them and share your content on social media sites. YOU have to tell people that you have written a blog post.

Second, make sure your blog post is easy to read and gives your reader the ability to scan the content also.

Third, make sure you have offers on your blog that are congruent with your blog. Invite your readers to learn more about your MLM opportunity or share affiliate content with them.

And lastly… make sure you follow up with your leads. Email them daily and provide updates and value. Make it about them, get them to say YES in your emails.

If you want to get more leads, you have to create an opportunity for your readers to click or optin. Be obvious about it, tell them what you want them to do!

If you got value from this blog post, share with others on your favorite social media site. YOU ROCK!

      Hey Chef Katrina,

I have to agree with Hilary. you have to know who you’re talking to. As you mentioned of your I health and wellness you want to convey information that’s in that niche market. The more aligned your blog is to that particular niche the better the chances of you growing your list!

Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a great rest of the week!

Hey Sherman! Welcome to my blog! Super excited to have you here. You make a strong point when you say align your blog to your niche. It’s important to focus on one aspect of your business. It will make you a better leader and a more trusted adviser. Thank you for commenting and look forward to seeing you back here again. 🙂

That #1 point – Know who you’re talking to! That is always the challenge. You can have everything else in place but if you don’t know who you’re talking to you’re shooting yourself in the foot!

      • Katrina

Totally agree Hilary. You have got to write to your audience and more specifically your avatar. Doing so ensures better readership and a building of trust. Love that you blog and put yourself out there daily! You are a true leader.
