How To Build a Google+ Community
As much as I like Facebook groups, I love the Google+ Community.
Why am I such a fan of Google+ Communities? Well, they are super easy to use and the engagement is fantastic!
One of the biggest issue with using a Facebook group is that the moderators input can get lost in the feed. You can only pin one post to the top.
If multiple people are commenting on posts or asking questions, information can get lost rather quickly.
So why am I such a fan of Google+.
1. Google loves Google. Every post that gets +1 is a signal to Google that this information is important.
2. Your posts get indexed by Google as content. Let me repeat that again. Your posts get indexed by Google as content.
With that being said… if you have a community on Google+ you also have a much bigger voice.
Inside this video I reveal the simple steps to building a Google+ Community.
Building a Google+ Community
Build a community on Google plus is going to take some effort. When you write your description be specific. Let people know exactly what the group is for and who is going to benefit from being a member.
It may also take some time to moderate. Beware of spammers and kick them out if they violate any of your rules. This is your community run it how you best see fit.
Have fun, make sure you engage and chat with your Group. Let them know you are there and that you want the group to be successful.
Personally I use Google+ communities for my Blogging Students, Reliv team, and Marketing Students.
It’s my way to communicate, follow up and host training. I love the ease of the groups and having categories helps find information fast. No more scrolling for what seems like hours looking for that one nugget of information.
Have you created a Google Community yet? Are you going to now?
Did This Help You? If so, I would greatly appreciate if you commented below and shared on Facebook and/or Google+.
Yours in Gratitude,

Katrina,
Thanks for your great tips and info on Google communities. I absolutely love Google+, I get rankings there that have resulted in being on the first page of Google on the first few minutes after publishing and sharing to Google+. I plan to spend more and more time there.
Hi Diane! Awesome share! One of the cool things about g+. Each post has the opportunity to get indexed by the search engines also! How cool is that!
Katrina, you continue to tweak my curiosity about investing more time in G+. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm! Your rationale makes sense, especially if it truly enhances engagement …
Hi Sharon. I am loving G+ the more I use and develop it. I have seen an increase of traffic to my blog and the engagement is good for business. And the communities are a lot of fun! If you have any questions please let me know.
I wasn’t aware of Google communities but it seems simple to build and a very useful tool
Ashley I think you would find them useful for Broadway communities. I haven’t looked but I am sure there are some great communities for you to join and a great place for you to share your blog. 🙂
I have not done a Google Hang out yet, but you have inspired me! Thanks!
Yvonne just go out and play. I love the G+ platform for building business. A powerful but under valued tool in my opinion. Thank you for commenting and wishing you a beautiful day!
I have not started a group of my own, but I have been looking into other groups. I am glad that you mention that a group requires time and effort. Otherwise it will degrade into a quagmire of confusion. Moderation takes commitment. I appreciate those folks who have made groups and maintain them. It is a great service they provide!
Hi Lynn. Totally agree the communities take commitment. If you are going to create it… be there to moderate it also. I have a few communities that I have created. A powerful business tool but it does take some time to monitor! Thank you for commenting!
Awesome article!! I do not have a Google + community but I’m in a few that are quite popular for bloggers!
Hi Marielle. I love the blogging communities on Google+. Some are very active others are not. Do you have one that you would like to recommend?
Thanks for more Google+ training. I’ve only worked within Norma’s community but I can see how it could be beneficial in certain situations to have a community as it can narrow in on your niche.
Also as a network marketer it give you a place to connect and invite people in to learn more. You never know the power of a community until you start one. Norma’s group is a great example of that! Have a wonderful day Pat!
I’m learning to love Google as well. I still have a lot of work to do but so far, I like what I see. Great article and video on how to build a community! I needed this reminder! Thank you.
Always a pleasure to share Alexandra. I know you are busy with DSD and I love it. Have a blogging student of mine that is doing that. He love it. He is using his blog to teach and train those using that particular system. Total rock star. Wish you the best of luck and keep us posted!
Great article! I love Google+ and everything about Google. I use them most of the time. 🙂
Hi Rochefel. It really is a great place to engage and build groups. Excited that you are using them. Any one feature that you like about google+ communities that stands out?
I love google+ and anything about google 🙂 i use them all the time…
Thank you for the tips, same goes with other social media groups. People look for benefits and if we can’t offer them that, they won’t waste their time in a group. Got to give them benefits first. 🙂
Hi Pamela! Any group is about quality of content and engagement. I have come to find some really good engagement with Google+ communities that I don’t normally see on other social site. With the exception of Norma’s group! 🙂
Thank you for commenting and look forward to seeing you here again.
I’m still learning my way around Google+, and your article helped me understand it better. I can see its appeal and now get that “Google loves Google”. Thanks!
Google is a search engine. It is massive in how it can rank your content and help you get more exposure. The other sites are just social platforms. They don’t really improve your reach, they are more like places to advertise and share your content. 🙂
I had no idea that Google+ communities were so easy to setup and use. Google indexing is a huge plus. I will have to start using it. Thanks for the great information.
Hi Diane, Super easy to set up and super easy to use. Huge fan of the Google+ communities. Love the engagement and the people. I am even going to say… It’s better than Facebook! (Gasp!) Let me know if you have any further questions.
Katrina, what a really great post. You’ve given me a lot to think about. You had me at google likes content on google +. Makes sense! I’m going to have to think about how to use this and what communities to have for it. I’m thinking a caregiving community and my harness your power commmunity. Love your videos and content is so valuable. Thanks so much!!!!!
It is a pleasure to share as I learn Tandy! I know you have a great niche for Google+ communities. Let me know when you start playing over there! I hangout quite a bit on Google+ now.
This is very helpful.
I’ve been thinking about using Google + groups and even hangouts.
🙂
Kathy
I love Google+ communities. They are way better than fb groups. And I have a feeling you would rock the Google+ hangouts! Let me know when you do one Kathy. I would love to attend!
