Blog Help: Why Blog Comments Are Important For SEO

blog comments

Blogging is a very powerful tool for building your business but you want to make sure that you have engagement also. Without engagement, your blog is dead in a sea of bloggers.

The reason blog comments are important to your SEO is because once someone comments it becomes part of your content. Did you catch that…

Blog comments add content to your blog!

With the release of hummingbird, engagement is becoming more critical than ever before. Your blog needs engagement now more than ever.

So if people are not coming to your blog and no one is leaving a comment on your blog … you may be writing to thin air.

How do you make sure that your blog is getting comments?

  1. Write blog content that people want to read. Now this may sound like common sense but I have come across many blogs that seem to have no purpose other than to just be a journal. Make sure you are using keywords and phrase that people are searching for.
  2. Join blogging groups – find groups on Truth Bomb Marketing, MeWe and LinkedIn that are geared towards building and helping bloggers. Look for ones that ask for posting and engagement.
  3. Tell people to comment – so many people don’t know that is what you want them to do. So TELL them!
  4. Ask a questions or ask for advice at the end of your blog. Give people a question to respond to.

Blog comments are becoming a very key part of making sure that your content is getting ranked and seen in the search engines.

Make sure that you have a place for people to comment. I came across a few blogs that had no place for me to comment or I had to go and search for them.

Another word of advice… don’t make it hard for your fans to comment. The more security or required sign-in you have on your blog the less likely people will leave comments. Don’t make your fans jump through hoops to engage with you.

If you are using WordPress for your blog there are security plugins that you can use to protect your content, keep spammers away and not destroy your fan’s experience on your blog. Check out the top 108 WordPress plugins

Hello Katrina. Engagement is so important that it’s worth making time to respond to people who reply. I agree about making commenting easy too.
