About Me Page Here it is… the about me page. The page the gets the second most views on your blog site.

If you have readers visiting for the first time, once they read your blog post they are going to want to know more about you.

They want to see if you are someone they connect with.

Your about me page is really important. So important that I am writing a blog post about it!

Now most people struggle with this… what do I write? What do I say?

The honest answer from my experience, start where you are at, because over time your story will change and grow with you.

So lets just break down some key points you need to have on your about me page.

1. Your personality

Let you shine through. You don’t have to be perfect. Just begin to share who you are and why you created this blog. Create a conversation with the person reading your about me page.

Let your voice come through. Use words and slang you are known to use.

2. Your Purpose

What do you want people to know about you and your blog? Why did you create it? Whom were you hoping to help? Give your reader a chance to learn why they should come back to your blog over and over again.

3. Contact Information

Your About Me Page needs to have your contact information. More specifically an email address so that people can contact you. If you don’t want to use your personal one, then create a gmail one just for your blog. But trust me when I say, that you may have sponsors, or publishers trying to connect with you because of the content you have on your blog.

Also have a few social media sites they can find you on.  If they like you, they will want to follow you.

4. Photos or Identifying Information

Your reader wants to connect with you and in their mind, want to see you also. So share a couple of pictures of you. Also give some description of where you live. Like if I tell me readers I am surrounded by the lush trees and open fields, what image does it bring to your mind. Share photos of people you have met if they are relevant to what you are writing about in your blog.

5. Favorite Posts

Do you have some favorite posts that you want to share with your reader. Maybe they got a lot of engagement or just posts you are extremely proud of. Let your reader learn a little bit more about you and how you can best serve them.

6. Fun Facts

Are there some fun facts about yourself that you are willing to share. I was a cook at Hollywood Studies the afternoon that we cooked for Michael Jackson’s family. They dined in our private room. That is a fun and interesting fact about me.

Do you run marathons… go hiking… swim 3 miles a day? This is a way for your reader to connect with you. Feel like they know you and want to come back to your blog over and over again.

Your about me page is your gateway to connecting with your readers. Don’t let this crucial page be missing.

There is no right or wrong way to write an about me page. But I highly recommend you get one done sooner rather than later. With that said… I am off to go update mine now.

Yours in Gratitude,

Chef Katrina van Oudheusden
