I am back at it with today’s posting of how to avoid ugly recruiting for your MLM biz.
In my previous post I talked about how to avoid ugly network marketing which got a lot of laughs and some great comments.
In holding true to this theme I am going to share with you how to avoid being an ugly recruiter in your MLM biz.
First off there are two types of known ugly recruiters….
1. The car sales man – you know what I am talking about. Feels slick, dirty, and makes you want to take a shower when you get home. They tend to “throw-up” their opportunity on you. Quoting stats, company blah, blah, blah…. (I know you have met at least one)
2. The Shy…. the lost, confused, soul that doesn’t understand how the leaders are doing it? What are they saying that is getting people to the meetings and joining their team. “WHAT ARE THE MAGIC WORDS???”
I am sure you have met both types of people. For a long time I was deathly afraid of picking up the phone and calling a lead.
I never knew what to say or how to approach a prospect without coming across like the care sales man. I was afraid than no one would believe that this wasn’t a pyramid scheme.
I just felt at times that I didn’t have the right words to convince people to join me…
How to Avoid Ugly Recruiting
First off their are no magic words. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Because it really isn’t about the words, or about the phrase or sentence. My job was not to convince people, it was to get invited in.
I am going to repeat that… “Your job is not to convince people, it’s to get invited in.”
When you get invited in, meaning a phone call or a lead from your blog… that is being invited in. Then you have to decided…
Are you the “needy recruiter” or the “I am interviewing you to see if your dreams qualify you for my time.”
The difference between these two is massive… so massive that of course I had to do a video to show you…
I hope you got a good laugh out of that! Fun to make… even better to get the training!
How To Turn Into An Attractive Recruiter
If you are serious about building your network marketing biz, you have to get comfortable with the phone and recruiting prospects.
You are going to have to grow a pair and get comfortable in your own skin.
As I talked about in the video how Black Belt Recruiting has been the only training I have ever seen that exposes the truth behind recruiting and shows you step by step how to recruit people into your biz. Almost on auto pilot.
This one hour training with Mike Dillard and Mark Weisser is unmatched. I haven’t seen another leader break down just how easy it is to handle objections.
What do you say when talking to prospects… how do you close them over the phone.
As an attractive recruiter you job is to listen and qualify people.
I think as a network marker we forget that we decided who joins our team. It’s our business and we should only want to work with the best.
So if you haven’t already… I highly recommend getting your hands on this training –> Black Belt Recruiting
Hands down the best hour of recruiting training you will ever see.
As a quick side note… as I am writing this I just had a new recruit for me business… and we never even talked on the phone!
If you got value out of this post or just want to give feed back from the video, post your comments below. Love hearing from you.

The ugly recruiting…yes I have heard it from many. As a matter of fact I hear it everyday I check my Linkedin messages, LOL! It doesn’t work, and the attraction process is a sure way to make it work. I am glad you are focusing on this “point” lately.
LOL! Yes… good old LinkedIn. I get it also… now they are even mailing me. WOW! Have you flipped it on them yet and shared attraction marketing?
When my husband and I were in our 20’s we were recruited by a direct marketing company that sold soap and other products-will just say it began with a “A”. I know the experience was less than stellar, and in the several months we were in the organization, we had experiences we would never forget -in a bad way. In a very bad way. You are so right, there is a LOT of ugly recruiting out there.
Thank you for sharing Alana. I agree there are some bad practices out there and one of the reasons I blog is to help showcase a reality and truth behind network marketing. I am sorry you had such a bad experience. Thank you for sharing!
